How does affiliate marketing work, and how do people make money from it?

Posted by admin on July 25th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 6 Comments »

Could somebody please explain how does affiliate marketing work, and how do people make money from it.
P.S: I need only answers no links to join some groups and thereby asking to pay certain amount to proceed. Thanks.

There are various types of affiliate marketing "techniques" to make money, but the most common way is to join a company’s affiliate program and start getting people to go to their website through link you may have on either a basic website, blog, or social media site etc… The links that you provide for people click on to go to an affiliate company’s site tell the affiliate vendor’s what web site sent them the customer and will track how much commission the affiliate marketer will get (which usually based on sales) and will send payment to the affiliate who directed the customer to them.
Many affiliates who are profitable at this business will use their websites to harvest emails "legitimately" first. They do this by providing good content on their sites that readers are interested in. They then will ask for an email address to which they might send a free e-book, have a newsletter to subscribe too, or perhaps have a very educational video that can be watched. Many good marketers will then send good legitimate content to their potential customers that is useful to them, then "soft sell" sell them a product that will give them a commission for sending their buyer to the seller’s site.
The Super Basic Steps of Affiliate marketing in 5 steps:
    1. Put up a website
    2. Sign up for an affiliate program that you feel has products that you have the ability to promote well
    3. Add the affiliate links that are provided from the affiliate program you signed up with to your website.
    4. Continuously work to Optimize your site to be found in the major search engines and get visitors
    5. Find more products and keep promoting and building your site

Affiliate marketing is a REAL business. If you take it seriously and work hard at it, I honestly feel anyone can succeed. It’s hard work, but well worth it. I heard that 99% who attempt internet business of people never make any money, and it’s mostly because they quit too soon.

There are many books you can get at local libraries that can get you educated on the subject. I recommend watching YouTube videos by lisa3876, my wife says she was the easiest for her to understand the concepts and really excited her to try and get started.

By the way, when doing your research, be warned that affiliate marketing "educational" websites are usually trying to sell you something and can be VERY persuasive. Try not to buy anything if you can help it unless you are 100% ready to proceed and the seller has a minimum of a 30 day return policy so you have ample time to really review it. I’ve spent thousands on my education to build my affiliate business and can tell you that if you work at it consistently, it can be done.

    Good luck!

Will participating in affiliate marketing violate F-1 Visa terms for an International Student?

Posted by admin on July 21st, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 1 Comment »

I am currently an international student studying in California under an F-1 Visa. A friend of mine asked me to take part in affiliate marketing with him but I am not sure whether this is permissible under F-1 Visa requirements in the United States. Can someone help me please?

Legally, I do not think you are allowed to do so. You certainly cannot accept checks from an Affiliate.
If your friend would incorporate, and provide some type of service to the student body (ie: computer help) in addition to affiliate marketing you may be able to accept payment from his corporation.

It is somewhat doubtful that the USCIS would approve something like that.

My advice? Help your friend out, and have him buy you beer, food, books, etc.

How is the Amway’s Multi Level Marketing Business?

Posted by admin on July 17th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 4 Comments »

Actually I am considering getting into Amway’s MLM(Multi Level Marketing) business. Can anybody tell me, how is it? I mean is it scam or c an we really get rich by working as the Individual Business Owner. It will be appreciated if anyone who has done it or doing it, tell about their experience..
    Thanks in advance

It’s not a scam but very few people actually make much money out of it. The products are nothing special and are a bit overpriced. There is a wealth of stuff on the internet about them.

I tried it a long time ago and never made much out of it.

What’s the difference between multi-level marketing and pyramid scheme?

Posted by admin on July 15th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 5 Comments »

And can you tell me if multi-level marketing works at all? I know that pyramid scheme is illegal, so I want to know if that’s the same as MLM.

MLM works and is the vehicle responsible for helping many people on the road to find financial independence, typically within 2-5 years.

There is, however, much confusion and misunderstanding concerning this business model.

A pyramid scheme has no real product so commissions are based on bringing new people into the scheme who in turn also bring new people into the scheme. It’s usually the people at the top that get the most while those at the bottom get very little. Eventually all pyramid schemes collapse because there is no real product being sold.

MLM, on the other hand, usually has a very real product that is sold either by retail or through members personal purchases (usually both). Members are encouraged to build a network of distributors to market the product.

In MLM you can earn more than those at the top if you apply some effort.
In a pyramid scheme you can never earn more than those above you, so when investigating an MLM company see if you can find out if there are people earning more than their sponsors, (this is the crucial test to weed out pyramid schemes)

How can you make money online using Multi-Level Marketing?

Posted by admin on July 7th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 12 Comments »

I heard about a lot of people making small extra cash using Multi-Level Marketing sites online. How does it work and is it worth it??

OK, so of course everyone on here is trying to get you to visit their sites and sign up with them right? Just make sure if you do multi-level marketing, it is something you are interested in. Because you could lose some money if you aren’t 100% into it. It also usually costs some money to start up.

Multi-level marketing is like a pyramid. One person tries to recruit people to place into a left leg and a right leg below them. Then they keep adding more and more people below. It is true, the people at the top will make the most money, because they tend get rewarded for having more people below them. But here’s the thing. If you actually work at it, and get people interested and working below you, you can start making money as well. The pyramid could go on and on…..so the more people you recruit, the more money you should make.

I actually do multi-level marketing. I recently did some research on this, and I have talked to a lot of people who have had successes and some people who hated it. I found that in order to be successful, you really need to be interested in what you are marketing. Currently I am a Beachbody coach, beacuse I love motivating people and I am trying to keep myself healthy and fit. It cost me 39.95 to start (which is cheaper than most MLM companies) and I know Beachbody does tons of marketing themselves (have you ever seen the p90x , slim in 6, insanity, etc. commercials? That’s Beachbody) and they are very well-known, which ups my chances of making sales or getting others interested. Anyway, if you are into being healthy and helping people, then check out the first website listed on my Yahoo Answers profile and click "Coach". It will tell you a lot more about it. You can also e-mail me with any questions.

How can I get affiliate marketing to work for me?

Posted by admin on June 29th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 4 Comments »

I know how affiliate marketing works but I’m a little confused about how to get people to my site. Lets say for example that I want my website to sell golf products (through affiliates). I’ve heard "content is king" but how do I write about golf to put on my site? I think I may be missing the point and any help would be good. Thanks.

To get high organic search engine rankings, you have to add plenty of content on your website with targeted keywords. So add loads of golf-related articles to your website, the search engines count the number of targeted keywords and relevent links on your site, and rank your site based on relevance. The more golf-related keywords and links you have on your site you will achieve higher search engine rankings which should equal more traffic which should equal more sales.

For example, you can add anchor links on your site specifying certain brands. For example say you have a products review page, a link with the anchor text ‘ Buy Tiger Shark Pro 888 18 set golf clubs’ (i just made up pro 888 as a fictional model) would be more relevent than ‘Buy these clubs’. This is keyword targeting, and will drive targeted traffic to your site through the search engines when someones types into the search engines ‘I want to buy 18 set Tiger Shark Pro 888 clubs’, you will receive higher search engine rankings than the standard ‘buy these clubs’ link.

Add plenty of keywords to your website of the exact phrases people might type into search engines when searching for the products you’re selling.

The next step to achieving high rankings is to build links. build plenty of inbound links by submitting your website to good quality web directories with high alexa scores, many are free. Submit your site to at least 400 directories by hand (don’t use automated software because you might get penalised) just stick to 10 a day. But the best way is to ask golf related websites (preferably not ones selling the same products as you) already with high google rankings to link to your site with a reciprocal link from your site. Doing this will increase your google search engine rankings.

More targeted keywords + More links = Higher search engine rankings = More traffic = More Sales

If you got some money to spend, you can drive traffic to your site with Pay-Per-Click such as Google Adwords, or Facebook Advertising. Although you will get traffic instantaneously, it can be very expensive and maybe not worth it unless you do a bit of research and educate yourself on PPC.

Try to have at least 10 pages on your website, and you want visitors to stay as long as possible on your site to be successful. You could add articles like ‘beginner’s guide to starting golf’, ‘How to improve your swing’, ‘The best golf courses in the UK’, ‘nightmare golf holidays – a personal experience’ etc, etc. Then you could have a Products Review site with recommended golf clubs to buy etc etc. Add videos etc etc. Content is King. And throughout your site you could chuck in your affiliate links here and there but not bombard the page with them because the search engines might penalize this. And add a few affiliate linked banners.

It takes several months for the search engines to fully index your site, so add content submit to search engines and directories and just be patient. Once you’re receiving 100s of visitors a day, you should start making some sales!

How many products should I try to promote using affiliate marketing?

Posted by admin on June 20th, 2010 and filed under affiliate marketing | 5 Comments »

I’m new to the whole idea of affiliate marketing but I get the concept. I was just wondering how many products I should try to promote on my website and how I should go about promoting them. I’ve read of people saying that new people should only promote a few products but then my website would only be a couple pages? Any comments/ help would be good thank you.

Just to keep it simple to start off with I would do no more than 11 items and try to keep affiliate banner links to a minimum of 2 or 3 and be sure to space them apart from each other otherwise your site looks like a billboard, been there done that and won’t make that mistake again. As far as the number of pages, I would try to keep it to one or two if you can, having a lot of pages doesn’t mean that your site is better. You want to be able to say what you want to say on one page with your links going to the affiliate sites. Don’t be to wordy, keep the word count to a minimum of a thousand. People read 25% slower on their computers then they do reading a book. You can also use a carousel that a certain affiliate provider has to help promote products with a visual picture and price of the product and you can have 10 items on that 1 carousel.

As far as promoting the product, write article and submit them to the myriad of article submission sites just make the article informative, something that people want to read. Then put your link to your site in the source box. You can also do you tube videos about products, Face book for business is good, even twitter now is a big thing. You can also go to forums to get people to your site.

If you want to start out with no cost use a blog as a website and put your affiliate links on it. You need to make sure you have word content on the blog or you will eventually get shut down. It’s free to use and there’s no hosting or domain name fees and you can put a tracking code in the blog just like a website to keep track of traffic to see how many hits you are getting. I do this myself with blogs, and it’s nice to not have to worry about money going out for different things. You also want to put out as many sites as you can just having 1 site is not good, multiple sites increases your chances of making money.
